The pizza was good but wish the crust was crisper, I don't like the order process at the cashier, wines are cheap, and they brought our salads after our pizza was served, too expensive for the value. Nice staff.

All I can say is yum.. I've been here about 5-6 times and tried a different pizza everytime. The pizza is fresh and delicious. The servers are also very friendly.

I have liked everything I've ordered here. They have a nice lunch special on weekdays, pizza, salad and drink for around 9 bucks, sandwiches are great as well as the lasagna and penne, fast and friendly service, they refill your drinks unlimited at no cost, one of my fave places.

This concept of this place reminded me of Pei Wei but with pizza and sandwiches. I went here the other night for dinner and all in all had a good time but it was nothing mind blowing. You walk in, the menu is right in front of you and you order and get a number then bring it out to your table. All of the pizza combinations looked fantastic and I liked how if you go online, you can get the nutritional info since a lot of places that aren't national chains tend not to do that. Some people said trendy is the feel of this place but I didn't get that feel when I was there, I'm still searching for what their feel is. Pizza came out within 10 mins of ordering and as is anything with goat cheese, it was tasty but nothing that made me mouthgasm. Pizza was around $8 though so you really can't complain about the price for five or six slices especially when that means leftovers!

I've never been disappointed. They have warm, fresh, and affordable Italian inspired food. You can dine in, which is fun because it has a trendy atmosphere and they brew their own beer; or take out. It's right downtown, so you could sit outside and people watch, which is always entertaining. I can feed myself and my son for less than $20. Not bad!

Salciccia and Slow Down Brown. Oh yea. I love wood oven fired pizza and these guys do it well. Service is friendly and prompt.

This place was great! I hesitate to give it 5 stars as I was only there once, but I'm thinking it's worthy. Service: We were greeted right away and she explained how the menu works here. While it looks like a sit-down restaurant with a bar, you actually order everything with the bartender then they seat you with a number. The menus are printed on the wall when you walk in. It does take a bit to go through them (pasta, C, pizza, specials, combos) but the staff seemed patient enough. Once we ordered and sat down we never waited for a re-fill on our drinks and the food came out fast. Food: I ordered the Campagnola pizza (they had me at goat cheese). When it was put down it looked like the crust was a little big, meaning they had skimped on the toppings. Not so! It was a perfect blend of rich toppings and perfectly toasted crust. We sat outside watching the people walk by, munching on some great food enjoying the Colorado weather. Couldn't get any better.

I liked this place. My salad was delicious. My son's pizza was really good and fresh. The beer (proprietary recipe brewed locally) was better than the local brewer's beer.

Everytime I go here its packed. Not my favorite pizza place (I'm a huge Boriello Brothers fan) but still good. Service is very friendly and attentive!

Il Vicino gets 5 stars because they do a few simple things excellently and consistently. They found their formula and they don't mess with it. They make pizza, calzones and salads. They may have other things on the menu but I hardly read the menu anymore. The pizzas are thin and wood fired. The plain, the pepperoni and the pesto are all excellent. I think ordering too much more on this kind of pizza just bogs it down--better go with a a calzone in that case. The spinach salad is a meal, huge and rich. With a pizza I usually just get the small house salad with gorgonzola crumbles. The caesar salad and cobb-type salad are also large and good. The beers are good and so is the root beer. For kids the home-brewed root beer and the pizza play-dough that they'll bake in the oven make the restaurant a popular destination.

The pizza....AMAZING! The beer, highly recommend 'The Beehive'. The food was excellent as was the service. Was a little confused when we first walked in, as you order then go and pick a table. I felt rushed to order due to the line....We came here for the weekend & are all about trying new places that are not chain-type restaurants.

The pizza and pasta is amazing!!! We have been looking for pizza similar to what is served in Italy all over and this pizza comes damn close! The crust is amazing! We also tried the lasagna. The sauce was flavorful and well worth the price. I did not have high expectations for pasta from a "pizza place" but I was proven wrong.

Yes! Some good clean food that hit the spot. I had their personal pizza with olives, capers, garlic and some other yummy toppings. My husband and daughter had the meat lasagna...Yum, Yum, Yummmmm! For dessert we had the connolli's(sp?). Never had them before but my first impression is that they are good. Go here for some good food and excellent friendly service.

This great pizza/micro brew was so far ahead of the curve that they had wood fired pizza and great beer before anyone knew enough to care. They cook the pizzas in 90 seconds at 800+ degrees (Fahrenheit for you temperature nerds) and it comes out perfect! Crisp light crust, nice char on the toppings, this is as good of a pizza as you'll find in CO. My only complaint is that you have to order as you walk in and then take your number to the table for prompt delivery. I personally would prefer to be seated and then pour over the menu while I enjoy one of their many beers, but I am lazy and indecisive and I will fully admit that I am nit picking here. If a great pizza and a beer is what you need Il Vacino has it!

  • Jennifer H.

Great pizzas that are big enough to share if you want to, but not so big that you can't eat the whole thing yourself if you're extra hungry. One of my favorites is the Molta Carne, but everything I've had has been really good. I believe you can also get a small size for most of them, you just have to ask. I also like the Calzone and the Insalata Il Vicino (lots of toppings and huge, definitely enough to share). I'm not a beer fan but they have a home-brewed root beer that's tasty. Handy location for downtown workers and residents; parking can be tricky if you're driving there.

I just wasn't impressed. The food was good, but really nothing special. I guess I thought it was going to be a little but more upscale, like a nice pizza place. It was pretty ordinary minus the wine selction. I would go back though and give them a second chance, everyone deserves a second chance.

We held a surprise wedding announcement dinner here last Friday night, where family flew in from both coasts to attend. Coming from Florida, planning this dinner was difficult to say the least--but the staff, particularly the manager--SCOTT---WAS AMAZING!!! He & his staff MADE OUR EVENING! We relied heavenly on Scott & his staff to help us surprise our family & to reserve an area in the restaurant (in the back) where we could enjoy our moments in a somewhat private fashion. We met with Scott a fe days before & he offered several options for food choices & how his staff might be able to help with the surprise...it was perfect. We started with the Los Dos Grenache & Il Vicino's Chardonnay for the table. Both bottles were gone instantly, and we ended up ordering several more of each! The pizza's can definitely be shared by 2 people (unless you haven't eaten in 3 days), and the same can be said for the calzones (of which the meat & veggie were hits at our table!) Some of the biggest "critics" in our party were impressed with all aspects of the salads & pizzas we tried (use the spicy oil on the table to kick pizza crust into awesome-mode)! We can't thank Scott & his staff enough for making our night so perfect & for the kitchen for making such delicious food. We'll never forget it!

Came here for lunch. The set up was different from what I expected. I expected to get seated and to have my order taken by a waitress...instead, I get in the front door and I'm immediately in some line...like going to a Chipotle. Anyway, I order my pizza with soda, pay the bill and take a number...I order one of the meat pizzas. It was good. I like the environment, however, service could have been better. If you're going to bring sodas out to people during the lunch rush, have the staff available to do this...other option is to just have a fountain machine out.

Overall impression of my latest visit to Il Vicino was far from good. We arrived early to meet some friends for dinner and drinks, no problem. We grabbed a table (it was still early and no one was waiting.) The manager stopped by and asked if we were waiting for the rest of our party. He was very pleasant and offered us drinks while we waited. I asked for water and my wife, at his suggestion, was going to try their inhouse root beer. Time went by and our friend joined us. But the drinks never arrived. When our dinners finally arrived with the drinks I paid for I again asked for some water. No problem our server said and was back moments later with it. Now don't get me wrong I understand the manager's duties can keep him running, but if you make it a point to greet a guest and offer them drinks, you should follow through.

This is a chain of fast food restaurants. It is not a four-star restaurant. You have to stand in line and order yourself, and at that time they ask you for your tip (I hate that). They then provide table service after that, but this is a no-tablecloths, paper-napkin style joint, not a nice date place. The food was adequate but nothing to write home about. The calzone was very salty but otherwise flavorless. The cannoli was flat.

Great food! Great service and you can't beat a $10 deal for a personal pizza, salad and a drink. While visiting Co Springs, I went here on a Sunday afternoon and was blown away by the friendliness and overall ambiance of this establishment. Mollica's could actually learn a couple things from this place. Highly recommend.

  • Trisha C.

I am amazed at how much people love this place. The pizzas are bland, the salads are heavily dressed, and there is always a line out the door! I've tried this place multiple times, hoping it would get better, and it's always a disappointment.

A trendy atmosphere with some really spectacular and relatively inexpensive wood-oven pizzas that made for a real nice dining experience; and it manages to be good enough to surmount the traditional Yelp modifier "for a chain." We were jonesing for a pizza and didn't feel like waiting for delivery, so stopped in here because it was closest. What I wasn't expecting was the long list of different house pizzas, and the expansive selection of topping choices for you to modify or create your own. What made this even better was the very reasonable price (less than 10.00 in most cases.) The services is very quick, as you order at the counter, pay upfront and sit down and wait for them bring it to your table. This moves the process a long, and limits the requirement of forced interaction - which can be brutally painful if you are suffering hunger pangs life we were. The pizza itself is delicious. The crust is thin and crispy and the toppings are high-end and delicious; the portabello mushrooms were especially tasty. There are also a number of craft beers and wines available, as well as a number of local breweries on tap. All and all, it's definitely a great place. I highly recommend it and plan to be back.

Stopped in late for pizza with with the kids while on vacation. quick service and really good tasting pizza... Living near NYC, I'm a pizza snob, but these guys passed with flying colors...we ordered 3 different pies, suggested by the guy behind the counter and enjoyed them all!

Ambiance: Cozy and trendy joint. Great downtown location, in an older building with high ceilings and lots of atmosphere. Large wine selection, with hundreds of bottles located behind the counter. You order at counter, and then take a number to your table, and wait for your order. Waitress brings you your beverage, and stops by for refills. A few outside dining tables, that are scarce on nice afternoons. Service: Super friendly, though I was getting just a tad annoyed with being asked by multiple servers if they could refill my soda glass (like stopping at my table every minute or so.) Maybe if just one server was assigned to a table this would not occur. Otherwise great service. Food: Better than average pizza. Dough is thin, yet very soft and doughy. I liked it! Fresh and innovative toppings. I went with the pesto pizza, that was quite flavorful, with pinenuts and sun dried tomatoes. Food is filling, without giving you that stuffed and guilty feeling you sometimes get from eating heavy, greasy pizza. Overall, for a chain, this place is rather good. Food is fresh, and the surroundings are quite inviting. I'll be back!

We dined at Il Vicino while on vacation in COS. The food was terrific, delivered hot and quickly, the wait staff friendly and attentive. We would go back in a heartbeat. The only negative - I agree with another review in that the area where you order is very poorly designed.

  • C N.

So I'm still looking for good pizza in CSprings and this place isn't it. The pizza was a bit below average...about a 4 on a scale of 10. The dough was gummy...not crisp and crunchy like you would expect from a wood oven. The taste was ok, but again, the texture was not. The dinner salad was very good and their beer and wine selection is pretty good. Also liked their service. Everyone was friendly and the "order at the bar" thing isn't too bad as long as you're not expecting a fine dining experience.

Food is always awesome and they always accommodate my vegan requests. It would be awesome if they offered daiya cheese for those of us who can't have dairy. Wait staff is always nice and food is always made correctly. Never had a bad time here but more options would be nice.

Not really a big fan of this restaurant. I visited my brother for the day and we decided on here for lunch. Both of us eat gluten free and were ecstatic that they offered a gf alternative. We both ordered a lunch combo so that we could split our pizza and try something different. We paod and were seated. Five minutes into being seated, this hostess/waitress person came up to is and very snootily told us that lunch combo specials were not gliten free options and that thos was the only time that this could happen. Well, so very sorry, but they did not have anything on here stating there was no gf option. We did not deserve to be treated that way. So I would rate service terrible. the food wasny bad. Not my favorite. I don't think ill go back here

What a fun little treasure downtown Springs has to offer. Some girlfriends and I decided on this as a lunch spot while we were out and about and holy smokes the Hero Piadine (folded flat bread sandwich) was marvelous. I mean WOW... the Italian blend of hard salami and capocollo ham- with the house vinaigrette my goodness my stomach is growing just thinking about it. The place is setup in that when you walk in the menu is on the wall and you order at the counter; they give you a number and you take a seat... waiting for your food to be delivered. I can see how this place can get really crowded, it's small and there really isn't much room between walking in and the register... so don't be surprised if you have to wait outside. Not ideal but what can you do? I know this place has "Pizza" in the title which means that this is their specialty but I haven't tried it, when I eat here the Hero is just too good to pass up. A person in my party did get a pizza and mentioned that it was very good, but I can tell you she definitely didn't have my enthusiasm about her meal as I did about mine!

Saturday night was not a good time to bring my family and some friends for dinner here. While waiting in a long line to order at this trendy pizzeria I had flashbacks of Georgetown Cupcake back in DC, thinking to myself, "this better be good" up until I got my food. I like the wooden look that is predominant inside the restaurant. The tables are right on top of each other here. The service was decent; an employee spotted my party from the line and made sure we had a table with a high chair. Good show. The food took a little longer than I was expecting to get to our table. Doesn't food cook faster at this altitude? I got the Fino. The dough was thin, yet firm enough to hold together through the last slice. It was a bit powdery though, and I don't like that bland dough taste that the residue has. The toppings were fresh, but it was more of a good bite than it was a tasty dish; more yummy than delicious. I'm sure two of you out there get that. Everyone else at the table loved their food. The root beer was flat and weak. There's no excuse for that. I was disappointed. The food carries this place. The root beer, long line, and cramped seating hold Il Vicino back.

My favorite wood-fired pizza. A salsiccia and an in house brewed beer is my favorite.

  • Geoff A.

One of my favorite restaurant chains. It is odd to be giving a chain 4 stars. Even more so when you have to line up to order and the decor/seating is so basic. But I care about the food quality and taste first and foremost, so I have no choice. The pizzas are simply the best italian-style woodfire oven pizzas you'll find. The toppings are highlight the freshest, least processed ingredients you could hope to find, so the flavors shine through. The same goes for their foccacios. Service is always fast and the staff always friendly and attentive. Even the vin de table is good quality. I will say I haven't really tried the calzones or pasta, but here at least I'm happy being predictable since I have found something I really like.

This is the most over rated food around. Is one of the places that people like to frequent because its on the downtown strip. And it's like all the other crap on that strip. Expensive rubber crap. Not just the pizza but the lasagna too. This place is only for those who don't know the difference in quality food and think they are getting a in on the town.

    Great prices, great pizza.

Wow! Just happened across this place while staying in town for a night. Pizzas are made with quality ingredients in an open kitchen. The spicy oil on the table is fantastic as a dip for bread or drizzled on the pizza for a different heat than regular crushed red pepper. Will definitely be back next time in town.

My wife and I live downtown Colorado Springs. This is our absolute favorite restaurant to frequent. The food is always creative, delicious and satisfying. And the hot oil... mmmm.... addictive! I am also so impressed with the beer. The Il Vicino Brown is one of my top 5 beers in Colorado Springs. Very reasonable prices. And very friendly wait staff... All this keeps us coming back.

GREAT food, GREAT wine! I was surprised and impressed by how cool and casual the environment is at Il Vicino. We took our 2 year old to this restaurant and I was worried it would be too upscale for her, but it was SUPER kid friendly. They gave her a small piece of dough to play with while we waited for our food. Once we got our food they took the piece of dough to be cooked and brought it back for her to eat. It was quite pleasing to find a place to take our 2 year old to, AND enjoy an 'adult' evening out too.

  • H T.

The oven pizza is relatively good. It isn't high end Italian pizza, but for the price, it was appropriate. I had the margherita pizza, and it had too much cheese in it. The service at this restaurant was excellent. I would definitely consider going back to this restaurant.

Everyone has their own preferences for pizza crusts and this wasn't mine. I like it cracker thin like Bianco in PHX but that aside, the flavors were great, portions fair and crowd fun. Any pizza place that will invest in a good oven (v conveyor belt pizza) is alright in my book. I also enjoyed the various hard meats and my great wine.

Thanks again to Yelp's recommendation on a great place. I had the calzone, which was bigger than my head and delicious. Also ordered was chicken panini - excellent and a couple personal pizzas. I believe whatever you order here will delight your taste buds. I am very critical of sauces and this place knows how to make sauce so YAY and YUM. We had our grandsons with us and they were given little balls of pizza dough to mold into shapes which were then baked and brought back for the kids to enjoy, a nice touch. Various varieties of beer will enhance your experience also. Eat here, you will not be disappointed. Oh, I also have to make a comment to David B. - If you are looking impress your date, and want cloth napkins etc., do a little research before you walk in the door. There is a tip jar but no one asked us to tip before we were served.

Yum, always a favorite both in the springs and in Denver. Love their pizza's, and I always get TONS of fresh Parmesan. The price is great, quality even better. Great for a casual date, easy lunch, or to fulfill that pizza craving. they have pretty good wines as well.

When we're headed to downtown COS (or through - usually on the way to the World Arena for a hockey game) we frequently stop in to Il Vicino to catch a quick bite... Hubby likes the pizza. I really like one of their sandwiches (I seem to get the same thing every time - but it is really good!) With a little side salad and an orange Pellegrino. Yum!

We began going to II Vicino in the 90's down in Albuquerque, and it was fantastic! Amazingly, it has not changed. If you are looking for a simple dinner, with good service, great management, and good food for a good price, try it out. They also have great IPA and the Pizza is as close as you'll get to being in Italy as far as pizza margarita goes, here in Colorado Springs. The tables are usually cleared in a timely fashion, and the manager is always on hand to ask how things are going (key feature in the business!! wish more did the same). I give it four stars for being simple and well priced, but they could improve on freshness of ingredients, like 'fresh garlic' on their pizzas...but, it is what it is, and they do it well. OH, and if you love this type of establishment, try Amicas Pizza Microbrew & More, in Salida, OUTSTANDING beer and the best pizza we have had since II Vicino!

When I get a hankering for wood oven style pizza Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza & Brewery is the #1 place I think of. The pizza here is outstanding. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The location is also fantastic for people watching. Get there early on a nice summer evening and get a seat on the patio. Order a pizza and a cold beer and watch the downtown workers get off work. Best people watching with yummy food place.

One of my favorite lunch time spots. They do a $10 lunch special that is fantastic. Personal pizza and a salad and a drink. Sounds like a little much when you hear the price but the pizzas here have amazing flavor and the salads use fresh ingredients. The wood oven gives the pizzas a slightly smokey flavor which sets it apart from anyone else in town. Add to that they do brew their own beer and root beer for the kiddos! I enjoy the root beer myself though :)

Il Vicino hits the spot. That is the only way to put it. I love being able to take my whole family out for pizza where none of us have to compromise our favorite toppings. We can each order a personal pie as spiced up or simple as we want it for a bargain as well. I am in love with their balsamic marinara - it has this perfect touch of sweet and tangy that is addictive. I like to contrast that sweetness with a drizzle of their fiery olive oil at the tables. Top that all off with attentive and friendly service and we have repeat customers for life! This is crowd pleasing grubs for sure! Something for everyone!

Are you a vegan who digs Italian food... they will make the veggie calzone with no cheese! And it is really good - loads of spinach, olive, artichokes etc. I used to get it with cheese too, also delish! I've been going to Il Vicino's for years. Always good food and good service. Reasonable prices especially for downtown.

Thanks, Yelpers, for guiding me to this pizza and beer spot~~what a find! My boyfriend and I shared the pizza al pesto, which was incredibly delicious, and the Brown that was on tap--also quite good. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this restaurant to any of my Chicago-pizza-lovin-friends.

I stopped by Il Vicino during Sunday on the Town last weekend and had the privilege to sample their flourless chocolate "cake". OH MY. It was fantastic. Rich, definitely something to share, but I will definitely be getting a piece next time I visit! It was just sweet enough, and quite creamy, like thick dark chocolate pudding, with a yummy walnut crust.

Il Vicino offers consistently great food at reasonable prices. The patio seating is great in the summer and they offer dough for children to shape while they wait for their food. Great for the whole family.

A solid and reliable place to grab an upscale pizza or salad. It is set up with an order station first before one can be seated, and a line is often the first obstacle that customers meet. But the staff handles it all with cheer and efficiency and they really pull off the slightly unorthodox arrangement. Food is tasty and fresh and a bit on the pricey side for a pizza joint, but also on the clean and upscale side for a pizza joint: overall it's a good value.

I'd probably come here more if it didn't get so freaking crowded at lunchtime all the time. def a good spot. I pretty much get the same thing every time I go - the # 20. The Panini Spuntino or something like that. With the San Pellegrino orange soda thingy. Makes me feel fancy. ha. but whatever else I try there is awesome too. The pizzas are great. I went on late Sat night and the place was dead so there was no wait and we had our pick of seats. which was a nice treat!

Really good food here! Prices are a bit higher than your normal Pizza joint, but it is located downtown on Tejon, within walking distance of many local offices and there's a premium to be placed on accessibility! Great place for a call-in pick-up lunch order or just a couple of friends having a quick bite. I wouldn't recommend it as a work luncheon place however due to its relatively small size.

Il Vic's is one of my staples when I am home and want to go downtown for a beer and a bite. They have great pizza selections and their own beer on tap which does not dissapoint. The downside is that everyone likes this place so be prepared for a crowd.

So. Freakin. Good. Yel-p doesn't think my three word review of Il Vicino is good enough. Well they can kiss it. Go here and see what I mean. I dont need 300 words like some obsessive hipster to tell you to enjoy this restaurant. Do. It.

Very affordable and delicious. Pizzas are perfectly sized for two people to share. The Olio Piccante spicy olive oil at the table is a must-do for dipping your crust. Highly recommend this cozy little pizzeria.

Great pizza in Downtown Colorado Springs. The crust was spot on like you get in Naples. They have a good selection of local beers on tap and wine too.

Who serves the best pizza in Colorado Springs? The restaurant that serves pizza that tastes best, to you. With that thought in mind, IL Vicino is not the pizza maker for us. Our Testarossa was an acceptable/edible pizza - plenty of toppings, properly cooked, etc. But, the dough lacked the taste and texture of a freshly made dough ... not much better than Domino's, et al. Again, the toppings made up, some, for what the dough lacked but overall, we would not buy a pizza on any return visit. On the other hand, we enjoyed the Pollo e Pesto Pannini - lots of chunky chicken, immersed in (too much) pesto mayonnaise and served in a grilled/pressed ciabatta. In fact, the best part of our entire meal was that ciabatta - dense, airy, and hearty. Caesar and side salads were very good - crisp greens, properly dressed. Service was very good. Recommended for salads and sandwiches. One notch better than Domino's ... on our pizza quality scale.

This is a great pizza joint. You order when you walk in off of the menu on the wall. We had eight people and they helped us secure enough chairs/tables. I had a calzone which was fantastic. All in all, good stuff here. Great service as well.

Fast, fun and nice atmosphere! Good pizza, wood fired oven. Also serves lasagna, salads, and panini. A member of my entourage liked it so much he made spontaneous paper craft praising the food!

I asked for thin crust and they told me it was all thin. When I got my pizza with a REGULAR crust I asked about it. The manager came over and told me they couldn't adjust the crust. The pizza was good, would have been much better with less bread. Disappointed that I left a 20% tip before getting service.

We got the pepperoni pizza and the flourless torte. Both were really good. The pizza was great overall, wasn't piping hot which I think is good. It wasn't oily and there was a hint of basil that I really liked. The flourless torte was really decadent served with a small dollop of ricotta and sprinkled with hazelnuts. Yummm. Their beers are made by Bristol Brewing using their own recipes as per the cashier. Really casual and relaxing. We will def be back.

This is a great quick-service Italian spot--order at the counter, then seat yourself. Good for families, groups of people--very casual but not so casual it feels like you're at a fast-food establishment. I had the tuscan tomato soup--kind of like a tomato soup + minestrone. Very light and delicious. Also had a small version of the Insalata Il Vicino and added chicken. It was average in terms of presentation and how it tasted--but there was definitely nothing wrong with the salad. Others in the group tried the Salsiccia, Rustica, and Bianaca wood-fired pizzas and really liked them. A thinner crust, and if you're really hungry one person could eat the whole pizza. If you're less hungry, you could share or have leftovers.

Cheap eats, good Italian food and pompt service. Between fast-casual and a sit down restaurant. Order at the counter and get your grub in 5-10 min. Calzones are

Il Vicino has fantastic pizza. I love the Melanzane SO much! The ambience is not really there, and it's also a chain. These things make the place less exciting to go out to dinner (no server, take a number and find a table), but the food really is delicious and they serve wine. If you sit out on the patio, it's right in the middle of downtown and can make a nice date!

We were driving through town and thank you fellow yelpers for leading us here! My husband, 6 year old and I all got house salads to start. My 6 year old wanted ranch dressing- no such luck here... But she ended up eating a mess of salad so 2 thumbs up for the house vinaigrette! The Gorgonzola addition was a nice touch for an extra $1 as well. And our 9 month old was a huge fan of the crusty Italian bread that is served with the salad! ;) She also enjoyed the "pizza" (crust with a little sauce)-her first! The three of us shared two specialty pizzas- da Vinci and testarossa... They were both really yummy! I liked the da vicini a little better... It was a bit more flavorful. I love that the crust was thin but not crispy like a cracker and had just enough toppings- More Euro style than American. Loved it!

Pizza was A-mazing! I'm in town for a training and I'm so glad I found this place. Service was great, but my pizza was light, crispy and so flavorful!

Ate here twice this week. Great both times, well deserving of five stars. The food is fantastic, it speaks for itself, but I'll tell you the most amazing part of this place... The staff. They are all on their game, they hustle, and they treat the customers exactly how you want to be treated. They go above and beyond. Same quality food and service on the day they were quiet and today on a busy Sunday lunch. Bravo you guys. My hands-down new favorite spot in the springs.

Friendly staff, and cool place. The mango iced tea was so good! The menu is unique and has good choices. We ordered the number 9 pizza and number 29 pizza. Both made for a pleasant meal.

After living here almost 2 years we finally visited here! The pizza is totally different than what i would think I'd like in a pizza and being from Chicago I expected to hate the super thin crust! The flavors of the pizzas they craft are absolutely amazing! The crunch of the crust goes with it perfectly! My only complaint is the size of the restaurant, the wait to order on a busy night, and wish the pizzas were bigger and would even pay more! Definitely worth checking out!

  • Rica M.

Finally went to this location downtown and it didn't fail me. I love the spicy oil on the table. That goes great with the pizza and makes it even more delicious. I'm up to try every recipe on that menu! I tried the campagnola pizza this time and mmmm delicious. They are also speedy during the lunch rush and didn't have to wait too long. Will be back soon!

We had just arrived in town and were hungry for a quick dinner. We visited Il Vicino and tried four of the pizzas. We loved all of them. My pizza had eggplant and all sorts of veggies on it and I liked it a lot. The cheeses they choose for their pizzas added so much to the pizza. They do offer beer and wine but not really a bar.Would return.

We walked in and ordered and sat down, I asked the waiter if the pizza I ordered had mushrooms, he said yes and told the "chef", she pitched a fit because it wasn't on the ticket right in front of us. I'm deathly allergic and normally I wouldn't care but she was totally unprofessional. I will never go back for that reason.

Ain't nothing wrong with what they're doing here. Food: Come to me, sweet wood oven pizza. They're doing it right here. Thin, crispy crust. Great toppings. WOOD OVEN. You don't need anything more. And I cannot believe the lack of this kind of pizza in the Springs. Service: They're always friendly. This isn't fancy. You order at the front and pay. And then you sit down. They bring it to you. Atmosphere: Cool and clean. Don't need anything else. Prices: Great. Most are $9-$12. Some for $7-$9.

  • Shara K.

Our first time here. We loved it. The food arrived really fast, expecially how busy they were. I've never really been a fan of brick oven pizza, this place changed my mind. The cheesecake and tiramisu was to die for. We will be returning soon.

  • Emily S.

The pizza was great, however I was a bit turned off by the girl who took our order. My son and I are extremely lactose intolerant. I asked if their pesto is dairy free 3 times and it wasn't until the third time that she actually checked with the cook and realized that she had been wrong the first two times when she stated it was dairy free. Also, she suggested the goat cheese as a dairy subsitute. When I corrected her stating that cows milk and goat milk contain the same protein (alpha S1-casein) that causes the reaction, she told me I was wrong and that they do not, which is misinformation. I was a bit taken aback at her reaction and thought it sounded condescending and rude. I was only informing her for further reference so that her mistake would not end up putting someone in the hospital due to an allergy. For further business may I suggest that all employees understand different dietary needs and that they know which items do and do not contain certain allergens. I understand that some places cannot cater to all dietary needs and that is fine, however this is a quite common intolerance/allergen and must be recognized and treated with simple understanding and not as something disgraceful or irritating to the business. Other than that we all enjoyed the food.

I went during lunch. With some military friends. They just looked at us like we didn't belong. We got our food and left. It was really a turn off. The staff and the customers gave us the same look. We weren't doing anything crazy. Just really awkward. The pizza was good, for the size it was expensive in my opinion. I just got a Margherita Pizza. I don't know if it was just that time, but I wouldn't suggest going in uniform. They also didn't do military discount.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! I was in town visiting and preparing to hike the Manitou Incline and the locals recommended this place! We sat on the patio on a warm summer night. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and energetic! The prices were average, much better food-for-the price than Olive Garden etc. Most dishes run between $8-$15. I ordered the Penne Alfredo with Chicken...and I'm not gonna lie; it was the best Alfredo dish I've ever had! Absolutely no cons at all for this restaurant!

Great pizza. Everything is fresh and authentic tasting. Sauce is delicious and service is top not. Quick and easy order when you walk in and they serve you at your table. Pizzas are pretty big for a personal pizza but thin crust and packed with flavor. Love the pizza.

    (5)
  • Andrew H.

Fast service and delicious pizza! You order at the counter and then take a seat either inside or out on their patio and wait for your food. We had the Bianca and Pesto pizzas. The Bianca is very flavorful with a creamy sweet and salty flavor that I have never had before. The pesto was pretty good with pine nuts, sun dried tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. The crust is thin and chewy, and there is chili oil on each table to dip your crust into.

Not quite sure how to accurately review this place, but will try... The pizza IS good and the service is, too. But, I think there is definitely better pizza to be found. The overall aura I got from this place is that it's a fast food joint operating under the guise of a gourmet restaurant. Don't get me wrong, good food. Just not great.

  • Katie M.

My friend suggested we go for lunch one day and I was impressed! It was decently priced, the food was good, and you got what you paid for. The staff was friendly but we did have to wave down the staff to get more water or be checked on. Other then that I would go again, and I would recommend it to friends or family.

Came based on Yelp reviews while visiting the area, and left very disappointed. I had a pizza with grilled eggplant, artichokes, and a few other toppings... The "grilled" eggplant was completely black and charred and difficult to eat. The crust on the pizza was bland and also fairly tough. The sauce was also a bit sweet. These came together into quite an odd taste experience in my mouth. My boyfriend had the veggie calzone and while it was gigantic, he was also unimpressed. Our starter salads were spinach/pine nut/red pepper and were uninteresting but not as bad as the rest of the meal. We also had their IPA which was unremarkable. Overall a disappointing experience. I haven't tried the other local pizza places but surely there are better options in the area...?????? Oh, and to add insult to injury, we asked for a side of ranch as an attempt to salvage the pizza and were met with a puzzled stare and "....we don't haaaave ranch... Do you want more marinara?" 2 stars for effort.

I liked it here! My friend took me to Il Vicino before we saw a movie and it was a good experience. I kind of like that you order when you walk in; that way you can pay separately and don't have to worry about separate checks. The menu was easy to read and person taking the orders was helpful. I had the small basic Margherita pizza and though I tend not to like wood oven pizzas, this one was delicious and perfectly cooked with great flavor. I enjoyed every bite. I ordered the root beer, thanks to other Yelp reviewers, and it didn't come with any ice in it and had a very unique and layered flavor. My friend had the vegetarian calzone and it was huge and she really enjoyed it (and got to take half home for another meal). The service was surprisingly good- someone came and checked on us probably 5 times during our hour and a half dinner. We tried the flour less chocolate cake/torta and it was quite tasty though different than we expected. This is a popular restaurant with good food and good service- I'll be back!

A Wood Oven Pizza joint that's also a Brewery? There's a combination you don't hear often, but Il Vicino has the recipe down. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? Friendly staff, lightning fast service, and a great indoor/outdoor downtown vibe. Can't argue with that. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? While they'll get you on the beers when it comes to price, what else is new for a labeled Brewery. However, the pizza, and in my case the calzone, was very reasonably priced, with only $9.50 scoring me this monstrosity: yelp.com/user_local_phot… Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Pizza is pretty straight-forward yeah? Crust, Sauce, Cheese, Toppings. Done. That's hard to mess up, but at the same time? It's difficult to master. My calzone was great, full of fresh ingredients, and others in my party were absolutely raving about their pizzas. However, I can't say it was the best I've ever had. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? This is a tough one, but the concept is such a great one that I have to admit that Il Vicino would be on my lunch list every day if I lived downtown. Star Granted.

Cute and funky downtown wood fired pizza place. Great find. My hubby had the pollo r pumante pizza which he enjoyed with the spicy oil on the table. I loved the Bianca with ham, onions, goat cheese and rosemary minus the mushrooms. I also got gluten free crust and it was awesome / the best I've had. Service was attentative and friendly.

Great service, good pizza yummy salads. I don't like restaurants that you order first and sit down. I don't understand why they do it like this. I wish they had regular beer, I wanted just a regular beer and it turns out they brew their own stuff and it just wasn't for me. They also don't have any type of garlic bread or cheesy bread. How do you run a pizza place without offering a yummy garlic bread if some type. Especially with kids, it's an easy $6.00 add on to every order that has kids. All in all it was good but only 4 stars for me. Ba humbug!!

The pizzas here are delicious. The ingredients are fresh and the whole restaurant smells edible. I have never had a bad experience here. It's good if you just want a quick lunch or if you want to sit for awhile for dinner. There salads are fresh and aromatic too

Really like this place. Eaten there twice, pizza once, pasta the other time, both excellent. I like the service model: you order when you go in, before you're seated, and they bring you the food. Excellent, extensive menu, plenty of opportunities to mix and match, service was fast and friendly, and the food was great. It will become a regular spot.

The wood fired pizza here is amazing. It has a unique taste that you can get anywhere else. I've always had a good meal here. The ingredients are always fresh.

  • Tim K.

Il Vicino has always done me right. They have a combo deal for $10.50, where you get a salad, pizza and drink. This is quite a deal when the personal pizza costs $9+. You order near the door, which can be a bit congested with people trying to get in or out of the restaurant (there needs to be a better way). The table service was rather poor the other day, our waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be there, and was snippy with other servers. The wood fired pizza is the best in town. And I can't get enough of their housemade Rootbeer. Il Vicino is one of my go-to places when I'm downtown.

  • Rusty B.

I had a great meal here. Period. For pizza / basic Italian menu place, this was really good. The setup is quasi-cafeteria in that you order your food or drink at the bar when you arrive and then put a numbered sign on your table to indicate where wait staff should bring your food and beverages. I had an excellent wood-fired pepperoni pizza, house salad with Italian dressing and a restaurant-brewed root beer. The pizza was well cooked and probably a bit more than most people would eat alone (think "super sized" personal pizza or moderate pizza for two). The salad was salad . . . good, fresh, etc. The root beer was really good . . . not too fizzy, not too sweet, great flavor (I like root beer but am particular, so this was a treat). The restaurant got busy during prime dinner time on a week night, and seating is first-come first served. Visitors might want to come early to beat the crowds. If you are in the mood for this kind of food, Il Vicino is worth a visit.

Great concept! Wood oven pizzas. Small enough to order more than one and share, which is nice to try a few things. Friendly service. Very casual and comfortable. Order at the counter and you'll get a table number where they'll bring it out to you. Wine and beer. Atmosphere is inviting. Prices are reasonable. Best of all: those pizzas are gooooood!

The pizza wasn't anything to go crazy over, kind of bottom of the barrel wood fire pizza compared to some of the others in the springs. They did earn bonus points for carrying Bristol beers.

Nice outdoor patio downtown. Pizza is just OK. Decent beer selection. I enjoyed it for lunch but don think I would come back for dinner.

Some of the pizza Italian good I've ever had. I almost always go for the Testarossa or the Pepperoni (add mushrooms!). Customer service is great, and the atmosphere is nice, clean, and has great lighting.

  • Stephanie K.

Ranch lovers beware! There is no ranch here! But luckily the pizza is flavorful and amazing. I got the Pollo e Pumante and my friend got the Molta Carne. They shredded Parmesan cheese on top of the pizza which we both loved. Great service as well.

  • Jade H.

Let me start with: We tried all pizza places in colorado springs. This place is the best standing pizza. Environment's cramped, but hey glad I found a wood grilled pizza that sticks out, finally. Oh yeah, the more toppings you get, the less the pizza's integrity holds and this review.

  • Jessica B.

I am stunned that this restaurant has so many great reviews. We pulled in here after a road trip from Aspen and thought pizza and a beer would really hit the spot. Having had great pizza from LA to New York and almost everywhere in-between, it's fair to say that it's hard to find a place that doesn't make acceptable pizza. Well today we found it at Il Viicino. I had a a simple cheese and tomato pizza and it was cheesy, gooey, goopy, and totally flavorless. I was hungry, but not hungry enough to consume this substandard faire.

  • Robert R.

I think this place is the hidden gem of downtown. Great prices, great selection, beers on tap. Can't go wrong. I have been here probably 50 times and I have never had a bad experience. From the ordering to the food, its been great. Wait staff are very attentive and I could never hit the bottom of my glass. It is not a large place, so there might be a wait.

    (5)
  • Kasey B.

The food is really tasty and priced fairly. I wish the ordering process was faster, because the lunch line is really long. I also feel really bad because you pay for you food upfront, then have a dining experience. I don't like to pre-tip my waitstaff, but I also like to tip them well if the service is good (which it is). The food gets prepared fresh and pretty quickly.

  • Chris H.

I eat here more often than I should, but it's just so good! They have a great variety of fire-baked pizzas and sandwhiches, all of which are really good and full of fresh ingredients. The other thing they do well here are salads. I've never been much of a salad person, and I'm not sure I've ever ordered a salad as a meal other than the Il Vicino salad they have here. It is so huge and filling, and if you get the combo for 9.99 you get a personal size pizza and a drink with a salad which is awesome. Other than the food, they also have some microbrews of their own that they offer which really brings the experience together. The IPA is fantastic and I've actually seen it at a few stores around town now which is a testament to its tastiness. This is a great place for a date, a group of friends, family, anything. Go check it out!

  • Jo L.

The area where you place your order is RIGHT at the front door. People are constantly coming in and out in front of you and behind you which forces you to move this way and that while you're trying to decide what to order. The food was good and the restaurant itself is clean and trendy. Way too busy, way too jammed with seating. I was sitting right by the door and the register/bar area. My senses were overwhelmed with everything that was going on all over the dining area. I felt super nervous and anxious the entire time I was there. All I could think about was getting the hell out. The pizza and salad was good. I actually enjoyed the salad, it was delicious. Not interested in returning. . . .unless I'm dosed up with Xanax. After rereading my review, maybe I need a regular prescription of Xanax.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
